1988. This report
describes a project to

shore) seen across the
water around New York
Harbor at night. The
report describes the
apparatus, the software,
and the principles of
photometry involved. It
also gives data and some
analysis.

article describes a

metamerism, or not to
show it as the case may
be. The method gives new
insight as well as a
simple working method.

amplitude of veiling
reflections," Journal
of the IES 19(1):49-62
(1989);
presented at the August
1988 meeting of the
Illuminating Engineering
Society of North
America. This article
deals with two aspects
of the veiling
reflections problem,
through simple models.
The first section deals
with luminaire size, and
the fact that as the
luminaire gets larger,
it becomes harder to
keep from seeing its
reflection in reading
material. The second
section deals with the
case where the luminaire
image is seen, and
relates the washing-out
of blacks to the
luminaire's size.
